Privately owned, the hotel was originally built by the Economides family as a 120 room hotel. To meet demand it was later extended with the addition of suites and premium accomodation to 180 rooms. In 2004/2005 the hotel closed for extensive changes. After working for two years with a London architectural company, the original hotel became a resort with three small properties, a spa , a chapel, bungalows and other facilities.
